PAA-EAST SOCCER FESTIVAL NETS OVER $12,000 FOR SOLDIERS

Great day, great weather, great facility and great people!! That was the winning combination for the 2016 Soccer 4 Soldiers Festival sponsored by the Pennsylvania Apartment Association – East.
With an assist from the Buckingham United Soccer Club, the PAA-East’s Helping Hands Committee and its Soccer Sub-Committee raised $12,600 at its fifth annual field event to benefit the Travis Mansion Foundation. In addition to the rousing soccer games, the day included special attractions like a cooling dip in the dunk tank. Scores of volunteers turned out to make the fund-raiser at the Herbst Fields in Pipersville, PA, a success.
The mission of the Travis Manion Foundation (TMF) is to empower veterans and families of fallen heroes to develop character in future generations.
In 2007, 1st Lt Travis Manion (USMC) was killed in Iraq while saving his wounded teammates. Today, Travis’ legacy lives on in the words he spoke before leaving for his final deployment, “If Not Me, Then Who…” Guided by this mantra, veterans continue their service, develop strong relationships with their communities, and thrive in their post-military lives. As a result, communities prosper and the character of our nation’s heroes live on in the next generation.
