ASSOCIA SHOWS IT CARES

April 23, 2020| Lester Yat

When disaster strikes, it helps to know that someone cares. And in many communities across the country, that caring comes from an agency founded by a management company.
Associa Cares, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, was created by Associa to assist families and communities in crisis as a result of natural and man-made disasters such as floods, fires and hurricanes.

Based in Dallas, Texas, Associa is the worldwide leader in community management, with over 10,000 employees operating more than 180 branch offices in the United States, Mexico, Canada, the United Arab Emirates and South Africa. The company, which has offices in the Mid-Atlantic region, has been providing management services to community associations for nearly four decades.

Using funds donated by Associa employees and concerned citizens across the country, the philanthropic arm of the company strives to “help people get back on their feet and recover as quickly as possible.” Through donations provided at fundraising events — such as golf tournaments, vendor fairs and bowl-a-thons — held across the country, Associa Cares is able to provide necessary goods and services to the families affected by these types of tragedies. In 2015 alone, Associa Cares donated more than $350,000 to families throughout the nation.

Those donations have helped a mother in Virginia who lost family members in a tornado, and families from New York to Illinois and California who suffered devastating house fires. In January 2016, Associa Cares earmarked $100,000 for disaster relief in the wake of severe storms across the United States

“Thanks to our incredible base of volunteer support, the people who live and work in the communities where we do business, we’re notified quickly when tragedy occurs. Our local branches set in motion our response, notifying our national staff, and helping to determine the need and the response appropriate to the event. It’s a testament to the power of caring on an individual and a company level, and I’m pleased to know that we’ve been able to help so many during their most challenging times,” says Associa President & CEO John Carona.
