Picture it: Two tons of food!
When members of the Pennsylvania Apartment Association-East gathered for their annual Summer Picnic, they enjoyed a good barbecue lunch — but didn’t forget their neighbors in need.
Recognizing that food banks tend to have their lowest inventory during the summer months, they arrived at the picnic bearing donations that will help stock those shelves and help countless local families. Thanks to that effort, the picnic-goers don’t have to have to imagine what 4,058 pounds of food looks like; they were able to watch the stockpile grow as they participated in a friendly competition to feed those in need.
Winners of the Philabundance Food Drive challenge were: Korman Residential, first place, with 1,132 pounds; the Helping Hands Committee, second, with 697 pounds; and Westover Companies, third, with 547 pounds. Other participants included the Associates Council, Fels Supply, Ingerman, Madison Apartment Group, Morgan Properties, Wexler Plumbing, RestoreCore, and Scully. The food drive winners also earned recognition at the PAA-East awards ceremony and two free dinner tickets to the September 15 Awards Banquet.
The Summer Picnic at Mermaid Lake in Blue Bell offered PAA-East members time for networking, music, basketball and volleyball tournaments, karaoke — and the opportunity to do a good deed.
